Leh palace was said the royal residence of "Namgyal" dynasty until mid of 19th century. The Palace was earlier known as 'Lhachen Palkhar', Royal palace and still is one of the main tourists attractions in Ladakh. Its rooftop view gives amazing view of the Leh market. It was initially build by the King of that time "Sengge Namgyal" The palace was later used by his family. After the royal family of leh shifted to Stok, The palace was later owned by the government of India and was the administrative office of the Archaeological Conservation Organisation.
