Spain: The multi-award-winning musical 'The Book of Mormon' premieres for the first time in Spanish by Hugo Ortuño
Part of the cast of the musical 'The Book of Mormon', is seen on Thursday, September 28, 2023, during a presentation at the Teatro Calderon, in Madrid (Spain). 'The Book of Mormon', the musical that has been sweeping Broadway for 12 years and the West End for 10, arrives in Spain from the production company SOM Produce, with David Serrano as director, to premiere at the Teatro Calderon on October 6. It is the great musical comedy of reference and the only contemporary comedy that will be performed simultaneously in the three great world capitals of musicals. From the creators of South Park (Trey Parker and Matt Stone) and Robert Lopez, composer of great hits like Coco and Frozen, 'The Book of Mormon', the musical tells the story of two young missionaries of the Mormon religion (Elder Price and Elder Cunningham), who are sent to Uganda, a poor country with a population that is 80% infected with AIDS, to preach their religion and convert the locals. Multi-awarded with nine Tony Awards (including Best Musical), four Olivier Awards, more than nine million viewers and a collection of over 700 million euros, 'The Book of Mormon' can be seen in Madrid for the first time in its Spanish version.
