Zha Liyou Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata held a grand reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at ITC Royal Bengal Hotel.
Amid the controversy over China's decision to deny visas to three Indian wushu players from Arunachal Pradesh for the Asian Games, Chinese envoy Zha Liyou on Sunday called for strengthening bilateral relations on a healthy and stable track. Currently, relations between the two countries are "generally stable, and the leaders of the two countries maintain dialogue and communication", said Liyou, Chinese consul general in Kolkata. On 24th September, Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata held a grand reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The reception was attended by Mr. Zha Liyou, Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, and guests from political circle, business circle, universities and schools, thinktanks, consular corps, media, Chinese community, Chinese companies etc., amounting to nearly 500 people. The reception atmosphere was friendly, festive and solemn. Consul General Zha Liyou said in his remarks that over the past 74 years, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have opened up a path to Chinese-style modernization and created two miracles: rapid economic development and long-term social stability. Especially in the past eleven years, the Party Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has united and led the entire Party and people of all ethnic groups in the country to adopt a series of strategic measures, promote a series of transformative practices, achieve a series of breakthroughs, and obtain a series of landmark results, to promote China on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country. Consul General Zha pointed out that China and India are ancient oriental civilizations that have been adjacent to each other for thousands of years. They are the only two major developing countries in the world with a population of more than 1 billion. They are important emerging economies with broad development prospects. A stable and healthy China-India relationship is in the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples. The common development and revitalization of the two countries is related to the future of Asia and the world. China is willing to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen dialogue and communication, overcome interference difficulties, and promote the development of bilateral relations on a healthy and stable track. The Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata is willing to become a bridge for bilateral cooperation and exchanges in east India, and will, as always, promote the further development of friendly and cooperative relations between eastern Indian states and Chinese provinces. Consul General Zha also particularly emphasized that the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs and is at the core of China's core interests. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an integral part of China. China will firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity under the international consensus of the One-China policy. Dignitaries and guests warmly congratulated the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, highly appreciated China's great development achievements and the great work done by the Chinese Consulate General for strengthening friendly cooperation and local exchanges between India and China, agreed that India and China share extensive common interests and look forward to working together to enhance India-China friendship and deepen practical cooperation in various fields.
