The women's IFA Shield tournament is introduced for the first time on 25 May by the Indian Football Association of West Bengal, previously 130 years IFA Shield tournament was only a men's football tournament. The Women's IFA Shield's main purpose is the growth of women's sports in India, starting with two teams between East Bengal Club and Nadia DSA. There, East Bengal Football Club beat Nadia DSA (Nadia District Sports Association) by 8 goals in this Historic first match of the tournament. IFA Shield is one of the oldest football competitions in the world started in 1893. Most of the girls who participate in this tournament are belongs to the Indian indigenous community. The game started at 3.30 pm in the summer heat, there was a cooling break in the first half.
