India: Lok Sabha Election 2024

People wait in queuc to cast their vote on 4 Phase in South kashmir's Shopian District. Voting for the Lok Sabha election 2024 is underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian in the fourth phase. This is the first major election in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 24 candidates are in the fray in the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

World's Largest Democratic Election Continues in Indian Administered Kashmir

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Fourth phase elections Around 35.97 percent voting reported in Srinagar Parliamentary seat. India's 2024 general election is set to be the world's largest democratic exercise, with over 969 million registered voters, more than the combined population of the EU, US, and Russia. The election process, lasting 82 days, will be held in seven phases, covering the entire country from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, with an estimated 15 million polling staff and security personnel. The election is expected to cost $14.4 billion, making it the world's most expensive, with political parties and candidates spending lavishly to woo voters. The polling officers and other election officials are called in the early morning to hand over the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), ballot unit, and other election materials for voting. They are resting under the giant canopy after coming from far away; they will be transferred by car or bus to distant places after giving election materials for voting ahead of the fourth phase of voting in Nadia district in India's parliament general elections on 13th May.
