Indian muslim devotees offer 'Zuhr' (afternoon) namaz on the first friday during the holy month of Ramadan, at Jama Mosque in Beawar. Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, Ramazan or Ramzaan, is the holiest month in Islam and the ninth month of the Islamic calendar which is celebrated by Muslims with much pomp and grandeur. During this period, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, and evil thoughts and action from dawn until sunset as they observe a fast between dawn and sunset and then break it with family and friends coming together and eating a meal called iftar.
