National Flag Day in India

Every year, India celebrates National Flag Day on July 22 as it was on this day that the tricolour was adopted in its present form in 1947 as India’s national flag. This photo of the national flag of India was taken at Batasia Loop War Memorial in Darjeeling. The War Memorial was opened in 1995 to commemorate the Gorkha soldiers of the Darjeeling Hills who sacrificed their lives in various wars after India's independence.
