Sri Lanka parliament elects Ranil Wickremesinghe as new President – Ranil Wickremesinghe was elected as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka, by the Parliament and the anti-government protesters protested against it in front of the Presidential secretariat on 20th July 2022 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Parliament today (July 20) elected Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka by majority votes.
