India: ‘Lost at Sea’ gallery opens at BITM on its 67th Foundation Day to promote ocean conservation

On its 67th Foundation Day, Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata, unveils its new gallery, ‘Lost at Sea’, aligning with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030). The gallery sheds light on pressing ocean threats - including climate change, pollution, and overfishing - through immersive experiences like interactive displays, AR walkways, VR exhibits, and a replica of the endangered Vaquita dolphin. ‘Lost at Sea’ inspires visitors to engage with marine life and champion ocean conservation. Prof. Abhijit Chakrabarti, former Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University; Samaresh Goswamy, former Director of BITM; Prof. Pranabes Sanyal, President of the Calcutta Wildlife Society; Arnab Chatterjee, Director of BITM; and other dignitaries attend the opening event.
