Hundreds of students and pro-Palestine activists protest across New York City demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student activist and recent Columbia graduate, on March ​11, 2025 in the borough of Manhattan. ​​Khalil, a green card holder and married to a U.S. citizen, was taken from his home by agents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS​) ​on the night of March 8, 2025, but has since received a reprieve from deportation.
