Germany: TV-Asahi-Kirschblütenallee am Berliner Mauerweg by Simone Kuhlmey
The TV-Asahi cherry blossom avenue on the Mauerweg between Lichterfelde and Teltow blooms annually from around mid-April.
1989, the TV Asahi Group was able to encourage and inspire countless people throughout Japan to express their joy at the end of the division of Germany with a personal donation.
The money collected was used to grow around 10,000 cherry trees in Berlin and Brandenburg.
On the former border strip between Berlin-Lichterfelde and the city of Teltow you will find around 1,000 trees, making it the longest Japanese cherry tree avenue in Berlin-Brandenburg.
