The place has a lot of significance in islam and Muslims. Initially badr was a part of the night journey from the coast of red sea along the convoy from Makkah to damascus. Back in the time the city was known for its wells too. On march 13, Battle of Badr took place under the command of prophet Muhammad, The last messenger of Islam. The battle is said as one of the greatest and most significant success in Islam.
