Spain: More than 7,000 Santas flood the streets of Madrid in a charity race by Hugo Ortuño
Thousands of people dressed in Santa Claus costumes (for adults) and Elves (for children), including trousers, belt, jacket, hat, and beard, are seen on Sunday, December 24, 2023, as they take part in the 12th Santa Charity Run on Paseo de Recoletos, in Madrid (Spain). The 5-kilometer route through the center of the Spanish capital aims to support the Red Cross and its Vocational Training for Youth at risk of social exclusion project. This project enables many young people to benefit from this training to develop their personal and professional skills with personalized and individualized support. For over 30 years, the Red Cross has provided training, guidance, counseling, and mediation to young people between the ages of 16 and 29 who lack a high school diploma or vocational training. At times, these young people face additional difficulties or risky situations in various areas of their lives: social, family, economic, or emotional. According to information provided by the organizers, more than 7,000 people participated in this year's charity run edition. (Photo By Hugo Ortuño)
