Naples: The work "Venus of rags" burned by fire par Pasquale Senatore
On the night between Tuesday a fire destroyed the art installation Venus of Rags, by Michelangelo Pistoletto, which from June 28 was exposed in Piazza Municipio, in the center of Naples. The installation is one of the most famous works of Pistoletto, one of the most famous contemporary Italian artists of the current "arte povera". The burning installation was about 10 meters high and, in addition to the statue of Venus made of plaster and resin, consisted of a metal scaffold covered with rags. The images date back to a few days before the fire and show crowds of tourists seeing this work of art intrigued.
