India: Plastic recycling for greener future by Arpan Basu Chowdhury
The identity of Partha Sarathi Ganguly is not only that he is a 62 years old retired West Bengal Government employee, but his identity lies somewhere else. Probably one of very few amongst six billion of us who have sworn to save nature until he dies. He knows in a developing country like India it is hard to stop the usage of plastic and thus he had a different plan in his mind, he said, "If we can not eradicate the use of plastic why not we recycle it somehow more creatively that will encourage others to do the same. Used Plastics will not be thrown to landfills or water bodies rather people will keep them passionately to create something eco-friendly". He started to collect the plastic bottles and drums and started to colour them. Then he made shapes out of those and planted trees on them.
