India: Transgender protest movement by Ritam Talukdar
Transgender Community of Kolkata organised a Protest Movement demanding punishment for Md. Enamul Haque
In response to the physical assaults and abusing acts done upon the transgender community and some of the members on 15th April, the Transgender Community organised a protest movement demanding for the punishment of Honorable head of " Bhasha o Chetona Samity " ( Literature & Conscience Society) Md. Enamul Haque on 20th April 2018. On 15th April, 2018 these particular transgenders were supposed to perform in the Ranu Chaya Moncho in front of Academy of Fine Arts and they were denied and Md. Haque was found instigating the masses recommending them as uncultured eunuchs. and even some trans girls were thrashed, bitten , groped , bled, abused verbally by this so called elite cultures of the nation. on 20th April, their movement was not only for Asifa but against the physical assaults on trans citizens in spite of the Supreme Court verdicts of dismantling centuries of bondage in India.
