Rome: Students remember the Fosse Ardeatine by Leo Claudio De Petris
Students from schools in the Garbatella district, accompanied by their teachers, demonstrated by going to the Fosse Ardeatine where 70 years ago, on 24 March 1944, the German occupation troops, commanded by General Kappler, slaughtered more than 335 people in retaliation against the attack against the SS Bolzano regiment carried out by a partisan cell in via Rasella, in the center of Rome. After the war the site was recognized as a Memorial Cemetery and National Monument where every year an institutional ceremony is held with the participation of the Head of State, other institutional bolide, partisan associations and the families of the victims.
