Thousands of Catholic devotees flocked to Daraga Church to celebrate 'Palm Sunday' which marks the start of Holy Week lenten celebration in the catholic world. Daraga Church or Nuestra Señora de la Porteria Parish Church (also Our Lady of the Gate Parish Church) was built by the Franciscans in 1772 is situated on the scenic foot of Mayon volcano (which is under alert level 1) and it became the house of worship of many Catholic living near the world's most active volcano after Mt. Mayon erupted in February 1, 1814 destroying Cagsawa Church.
