Bangladesh: Pawmang, a residential school for indigenous children

The name of this hill school is Paomang. Paomang means flower garden. Paomang Shishu Sadan in Champajhiri Para of Lama Upazila in the hill district of Bandarban has recently completed twelve years of its establishment. Chak, Khumi children are getting education in this school and adjoining hostel, apart from the Mro children who are somewhat backward among the hill communities. In this Paomang school in the hills, the government curriculum is practiced through practical exercises. And children are tried to be self-reliant. Alongside the academic curriculum, students are taught life and cultural skills as part of school life such as gardening, farming, dancing, drawing, debating etc. as the kids grow up in the residence of Pawmang.
