The Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Canberra (L02) arrives at the main port in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on 23 rd March 2019. - HMAS Canberra (L02) is the lead ship of the Canberra-class landing helicopter dock in service with the Royal Australian Navy. It is the current flagship of the RAN fleet. Construction of the ship started in Spain in 2008, with the hull launched by Navantia in 2011.1,000 Australian security personnel in four naval ships and a military aircraft are participating in the biggest joint exercise yet with their Sri Lankan counterparts. Australian forces will move on to India on March 30 then Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore before returning to Darwin.
