Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marks the occasion when Allah bestowed the Quran upon Prophet Muhammad. During this sacred month, Muslims globally abstain from eating, drinking, and engaging in sexual activities from dawn to dusk. In addition to intensified prayers, adherents are obligated to contribute to charity through the giving of alms, known as Zakat. Every Muslim is required to donate 2.5 percent of their wealth and assets, surpassing the obligatory amount, to provide support for the less fortunate.
