India: A life of hardship and struggle - Fate of the Indian Farmers' in the camps at Singhu Border by Shikha Arya
The ongoing farmers protest which started on 9th August 2020 against the three farm laws enforced by the Indian government has now completed a whole year. Amidst the harsh weather conditions the Indian farmers from different parts of India have been participating in the revolt with full enthusiasm. They have been living in the tents and small camps run by the Sikh community. Life has not been easy for these people living in the Border areas away from their homes for more than a year. The Indian government has taken back the farm laws as announced by PM Modi recently but the final verdict is yet to come.
After the Indian independence and the advent of the Green Revolution, India has witnessed a mass scale protest led by the Indian Farmers. It has truly proved to be a benchmark in the Indian history of agricultural reforms.
