Workers are drying Batik clothes under the sun in an open field as part of the process of creating traditional Batik. In this techniques wax is used to create stunning patterns on a huge scale. The wax prevents the dye from penetrating the area it is placed on, allowing workers to create amazingly complex multi-colored designs. Then, they soak the cloths in a dying emulsion before rolling the large cotton, silk, or wool cloths in the hot sun to dry.
