PHL: Over 200 hurt during Feast of Black Nazarene by Joseph Dacalanio
Devotees left unconscious at the mammoth sea of crowd during the Feast of Black Nazarene in Manila. According to Manila disaster management officials they tallied 251 people hurt since the beginning of the procession. While Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said that their volunteers attended to 986 individuals, including 636 who had their blood pressure checked. About 270 patients who suffered from dizziness, shortness of breath, elevated blood pressure, abrasion, laceration and sprains also received first aid. PRC added 25 patients with minor medical cases were treated on-site and 14 were brought to the Ospital ng Maynila and Jose Reyes medical center. It did not give details on the cases. There were also 4 devotees given psychological first aid, PRC said.
