Pakistan: View of the partially-eclipsed half bloo by Rana Sajid Hussain
An attractive view of the partially-eclipsed Half Blood moon rises as last lunar eclipse of the year in Lahore on July 17, 2017. A partial lunar eclipse occurs when a portion of moon passes through Earth's umbra shadow. Depending on the size of the eclipse, a dark red or rust color or simply a charcoal grey may appear on the shadowed portion of the lunar surface. A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and Moon but the three celestial bodies do not form a straight line in space. When that happens, a small part of the Moon's surface is covered by the darkest, central part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra.
