Nepal celebrate Gahana Khojne Jatra festival by Archana Shrestha
Local people from Newar community participate in the celebration of traditional "Gahana
Khojne Jatra" festival in Gahana Pokhari (Jewel-Pond) at Handigaon in Kathmandu. They carry
the chariot of Goddess Tundaldevi on their shoulders and search for her lost jewellery in the pond. Folklores describe in length the story of four goddess sisters and how one of them lost her jewellery. The festival is supposed to have started from the Lichchhavi
period of Nepali history.
