New York City: Patricia Okoumou court sentence by Gabriele Holtermann Gorden
Today Patricia Okoumou, the activist who climbed the Statue of Liberty in July 2018 in protest of the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policies was sentenced in the Southern District Court of New York In Manhattan to 5 years of probation.
Before the sentencing, supporters gathered in a show of support alongside Ms. Okoumou who had covered her face in plastic tape to protest the limits imposed on her freedom of expression.
