Due to high inflation rate and high prices of basic commodities, people in depressed areas in Manila scavenged for 'pagpag' which is a Tagalog term for leftover food from fast food restaurants and; expired frozen meat, fish, or vegetables discarded by supermarkets scavenged from garbage sites and dumps.
