Philippines: Funeral rites of Reynaldo De Guzman by Richard James M. Mendoza
The body of slain teenager Reynaldo De Guzman is laid to rest at a cemetery during funeral rites in suburban Pasig City, east of Manila, Philippines on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The identity of Reynaldo De Guzman, a 14 year old child found with multiple stab wounds at a creek in Gapan township, Nueva Ecija province is in doubt following DNA test results by police authorities issued on September 11, 2017 showing that he is not the biological son of a Filipino couple, Eduardo Gabriel and Lina De Guzman that first claimed the body. The De Guzman couple insists that the body they claimed is their missing son, whose case is linked to the killing of 19 year old Carl Angelo Arnaiz, who was killed by policemen in an alleged shootout after allegedly robbing a taxi. The chief of the government's Public Attorney's Office rejected the police test results and insisted that the body was that of Reynaldo De Guzman, saying that DNA test results could be inaccurate if there was mishandling of specimen collected for testing.
