Naples: End of Ramadan's holy month by Michele Amoruso
Muslims in Naples offer Eid prayers on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr festival which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in the "Piazza Garibaldi" Square. The three-day festival, which begins after the sighting of a new crescent moon, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan during which devout Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk. Muslims believe that the prophet Mohammed received revelations from God during the holy month of Ramadan which made up their holy guide Koran.
