India: Houses gutted by fire in Srinagar by Zahid Hussain Bhat
12 residential houses gutted by fire at Chinar Bagh Srinagar. At least 12 residential houses gutted in a devastating fire at Chinar Bagh area of Srinagar India administrated Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning which left 22 families homeless.
The fire broke out in a residential house in the congested locality and engulfed the vicinity within no time.
According to witnesses, the cause of the fire was short circuit. Within no time fire spread to other residential houses. Mostly wooden. The residents said that the area is congested that is why the fire spread to other houses quickly. “We lost all the belongings. We were not able to bring out anything including documents from the houses,” the affected families said. Adding, “The only thing with us is the clothes we wore in.”
The fire was doused by fire tenders after intense fire fighting operation which lasted for three hours.
