Clashes erupted in Sopore town after Friday prayers as forces used force to disperse the civilian protesters.
Reports said soon after the Friday prayers hundreds of people assembled outside historic Jamia Masjid Sopore amid pro-freedom slogans and started marching towards main chowk Sopore after Friday congregational prayers.The forces, who were already deployed at Main chowk stopped the protesters from proceeding ahead, triggering a stone-pelting clash.
Pertinently, the Joint resistance leadership on Thursday had called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers on March 17, against the killing of Kaneeza and critically injuring her brother in a shootout at Kupwara.
